Achim Wollscheid belonged to a collective from Frankfurt ,Germany in the 1980’s. They emphasized mail collaboration as a creative practice tempered with theory.

I responded automatically to a series of noises placed on a cassette “Brakes n’ Mistakes” by Achim, a work meant to be finished by another, and produced a sketchbook, each page for a different sound. These pages were reworked on the photocopier and sent back to me to use.

The photocopies were made quickly into a random and fragile collage from which I made drawings and paintings that occupied me for about three years. Most of the paintings are no longer available: the two presented here were the last ones and the largest in the series, both measuring 213 cm horizontally.

A mere fragment of the collage exists and is presented online.
